20mph sign 'removed illegally' amid 'spate of incidents' in Welsh village

A 20mph limit was among seven road signs "removed illegally" in a Welsh village, which has led to "serious road safety concerns".
Carmarthenshire County Council said it was becoming "increasingly concerned" after "a spate of incidents".
The other signs cut down included a national speed limit sign and a junction ahead sign.
20mph has been the default speed limit in Wales's residential areas since September last year.
Earlier this week, Lee Waters, the minister behind the rollout, said he would be stepping down in a fortnight and would delete his profile on social media platform X due to abuse.
Councillor Edward Thomas, the council's cabinet member for transport, said it was a "serious act of vandalism" which presented "a significant risk to life".
"The absence of warning signs could contribute to a road traffic collision," he said.
"Not only is the illegal removal of these signs dangerous and irresponsible to road users, but replacing these signs will come at a significant cost to the local authority - placing more strain on the public purse."

The council is asking anyone who could help with the investigation to get in touch with Dyfed-Powys Police, with officers also appealing for information.
