Andrew Miller appears in court charged with abduction after 11-year-old girl went missing in Scottish Borders town of Galashiels

Andrew Miller, also known as Amy George, appears at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday accused of abduction and threatening or abusive behaviour. He is remanded in custody.

A 53-year-old man has appeared in court charged with abduction after an 11-year-old girl went missing in the Scottish Borders.

Police launched a search for the schoolgirl after she was reported missing from Galashiels on Sunday night.

She was eventually found "safe and well" on Monday evening.

Andrew Miller, also known as Amy George, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Mr Miller, from the Borders, has also been accused of threatening or abusive behaviour.

The accused made no plea when he appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The case was committed for further examination with Mr Miller remanded in custody in the meantime.

Mr Miller is expected back in court within the next eight days.
