A major search has ended after a person was swept into the sea from rocks in Anglesey.

The operation took place at Trearddur Bay in North Wales after a "serious police incident" was reported at Ravens Point at 7.05pm on Saturday.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency resumed the search early on Sunday but it was later "stood down".

It said the search had taken place in rough seas and strong winds and involved "rope team members going into the water".

A statement added: "An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was sent from Caernarfon as well as RNLI lifeboats from Treaddur Bay.

"Coastguard Rescue Teams were involved from Cemaes, Holyhead, Moelfre, Penmon and Rhosneigr. The search was stood down shortly before 4pm."

A spokesperson said it was unlikely the search would resume unless new information came in.
