An Austrian couple who thought they were taking in a delivery of dresses ordered online were shocked to discover one box contained nearly 25,000 Ecstasy tablets.
The couple, aged 58 and 59, from Linz, were eating their breakfast when the two boxes were delivered, and had assumed it was a long-awaited order of dresses from the Netherlands.
While one box did contain the right order, the second contained thousands of brightly coloured tablets, later revealed to be Ecstasy.
A police statement said: "The originally planned cozy breakfast was quickly over and the horror was great, as it turned out that in one of the packages were probably the two dresses, in the second, however, about 24,800 Ecstasy tablets worth about €500,000 (£443,000)."
Police said the wife thought they were decorative stones, but the husband quickly realised they were probably something more addictive, and they returned the package to the post office.
Astonished post office workers called the police who found the package was intended to be delivered to an address in Scotland.
Officers searched a property in Glasgow in July but no arrests were made.
