A second whale in two days has washed up on a beach in the UK.

The latest carcass was found along the shore of the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales and experts believe that it was a young sperm whale.

Abersoch Coastguard Rescue Team announced the beached whale had been spotted on Porth Neigwl beach.

A spokesperson for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said they received a report of "a live stranded large whale" at around 8am on Monday.

BDMLR's marine mammal medics attended to assess the animal but the high tide meant they could not get close to the animal.

"As the tide retreated, it became clear that the whale had passed away," a spokesperson added.

Medics also said that the whales was "in incredibly poor body condition".
