Bradley Cooper has hinted that he might perform at Glastonbury for real, after making a surprise appearance last year as part of shooting for his latest film.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who thrilled festival-goers when he walked out on to the famous Pyramid Stage in 2017, said he would love to perform at the festival again, as himself rather than in character.

Cooper plays singer-songwriter Jackson Maine in A Star Is Born, a tragic love story co-starring Lady Gaga, and also makes his directorial debut with the film.

The singer tells Sky News she drew on her own experiences to play an aspiring singer in the remake of A Star Is Born

Speaking to Edith Bowman on her Soundtracking podcast, Cooper said he had spoken to Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis and her husband Nick Dewey about returning to play on the smaller Park Stage.

While Jackson "is gone", he said there was "nothing I would want more than to watch me try and do it".

He continued: "I did speak to Nick and Emily the other day; maybe we could pop up on the Park Stage and maybe do six songs. That would be the only thing I would maybe do.

"But we wouldn't announce it even... though I'm talking about it now with a microphone in front of my mouth."

Lady Gaga says she was humbled by her acting role in A Star Is Born

A Star Is Born was released at the weekend.

Cooper's Jackson is a successful performer and troubled addict who meets and falls in love with Ally (Lady Gaga), a struggling artist playing to empty rooms.

Musicians including Noel Gallagher, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder and Tom Waits all gave Cooper advice on how to play his character, he said.

"I spent time with Noel Gallagher and asked him thousands of questions and watched him play," he said.

He said the former Oasis frontman "will tell you exactly what he thinks".
