The body of a British businessman who went missing in Kenya more than a week ago was reportedly found in a sack of pineapples in a forest.

Campbell Scott, believed to be from Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland, was last seen attending a conference at the JW Marriot Hotel in the capital Nairobi on 16 February.

His body was discovered in a sack of pineapples in a forest around 66 miles southeast of the city at the weekend, according to local media reports.

Local administrator Thomas Maitha told Kenya's The Standard newspaper that Mr Scott "appeared to have been tortured".

He added: "The body, which was in bad state, prompted us to escalate the matter further.

"In addition to the physical injuries, the killer(s) had tied his hands from the back, and stuffed the body in the sack which had been packed with ripe pineapples."

CCTV footage reportedly captured him leaving the hotel with a man dressed in a white T-shirt and blue jeans before they got in a taxi on the day he was last seen.
