It may seem inconsequential to anyone who does not live in the county, but for Twitter users it is clearly not, because Norfolk Day was a top trending topic on Friday.
Described by local media as "a day of fun, a day for laughter, a day to show how proud you are to live here", it will be held on Friday 27 July.
Individuals, towns and villages, businesses and other organisations are being encouraged to get involved, and to show their "pride and passion for Norfolk".
Starter packs including flags, posters and balloons are being prepared. Branded t-shirts will also be available.
The Dean of Norwich Cathedral, the Very Rev Jane Hedges, told the Eastern Daily Press the day would "give us all, whatever our interests and passions, a chance to reflect on how fortunate we are to be living here".
Others were equally enthusiastic. Pete Raven tweeted: "I am a Norfolk man and glory in being so."
Jack Reeve said: "Proud of where I'm from, finest county in the land. Good to see Norfolk Day being launched."
And Martin Brundle, from Sky Sports F1, said Norfolk was the "most beautiful and peaceful county in the UK".
A largely rural area, Norfolk was settled in pre-Roman times, and has a population today of about 850,000.
Norwich - one of four main built-up areas - was the largest city in England, apart from London, from the Middle Ages until the Industrial Revolution.
A network of rivers and lakes in the east of the county is known as the Norfolk Broads.
Norfolk celebrities include Delia Smith. The TV cooking show presenter is also Norwich City football club's joint majority shareholder, alongside her husband, Michael Wynn Jones.
Comedians Charlie Higson, Paul Whitehouse, Eddie Izzard and Arthur Smith all studied in Norwich at the University of East Anglia.
The actor Hugh Jackman's mother lives in Norfolk, and his favourite pub is said to be in Norwich.
And, of course, there is Alan Partridge, who could not be reached for comment.
