Police have called off the search for a 23-year-old woman who vanished from her home in a seaside town, saying she is likely to have gone into the sea.

Chelsie Dack, an estate agent from Gorleston, Norfolk, has been missing since the early hours of Monday.

Norfolk Police said CCTV footage showed her walking towards the pier, where her mobile phone was found by a member of the public later that morning.

The force added that CCTV inquiries are continuing but searches have been stood down, with the "most likely scenario" that she entered the water.

Ms Dack's mother, Dawn Howell, also shared a Facebook post saying it is "strongly believed Chelsie has taken her own life".

Great Yarmouth policing commander, Superintendent Mike Britton, said: "We've carried out extensive local searches involving dedicated search teams, dog units, National Police Air Service, the coastguard, RNLI and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue and the coastguard helicopter.

"Unfortunately, there has been no sign of Chelsie and she hasn't used her bank accounts or social media accounts since the early hours of Monday morning.

"This, combined with CCTV inquiries, leads us to believe the most likely scenario is that she has entered the water.

"We've spoken to Chelsie's family and updated them on the investigation so far."

On Tuesday, Ms Dack's mother shared a post to the Find Chelsie Dack Facebook page, which has 11,000 members, giving an update following a discussion with police.

The post said: "It's with a very deep heart that we need to let you all know that is strongly believed Chelsie has taken her own life.

"The family are together and heartbroken, they are overwhelmed by all the support and love from friends, family and the community.

"They ask that you respect their privacy at this very sad time, but to know that they are still holding on to a glimmer of hope.

"Love and best wishes. They thank each and every one of us in helping find our beautiful Chelsie."
