Chris Froome made his historic Tour de France win a particularly special moment for one set of loved-up fans.

The cyclist ditched immediate victory celebrations after crossing the finish line in Paris - helping an onlooker propose to his girlfriend instead.

Froome approached a man minutes after getting off his bike.

"I've been carrying this around for months with me," he told the fan, producing a small box.

"It's pretty heavy," Froome quipped, as the man got down on one knee.
