Coronavirus: 'Chaos' as huge queues seen outside McDonald's drive-throughs

Huge queues have been seen outside some of McDonald's restaurants, after the fast food chain reopened a number of its drive-throughs.

Images showed cars forming snaking queues outside some of the chain's outlets, as many customers arrived for their first taste since lockdown began.

Some living nearby reported "chaos" on the roads as the restaurants reopened their drive-throughs.

Service is resuming at 33 of the fast-food chain's UK sites - and six in Ireland, which are all in Dublin - between 11am and 10pm.

Customers are limited to a maximum spend of £25 per car and all will be asked to use contactless payment.

The locations join some sites that had already reopened for delivery only, with a limited menu.

McDonald's previously said it planned to reopen all of its drive-through sites by early June, in line with government coronavirus guidelines.
