The California-based company told employees, in a post by chief executive Ryan RoslanAG百家乐在线官网, that it was "not immune to the effects of the global pandemic".
Cuts will take place across sales and hiring divisions of the group globally.
UK staff will be among those affected but the company did not set out how many.
Mr RoslanAG百家乐在线官网 said: "COVID-19 is having a sustained impact on the demand for hiring, both in our LTS [LinkedIn Talent Solutions] business and in our company."
Some roles were "no longer needed as we adjust to the reduced demand in our internal hiring and for our talent products globally", the chief executive added.
Affected staff will be able to keep company-issued mobile phones, laptops, and recently purchased equipment to help them work from home "so they have the practical tools they need to help with career transitions", Mr RoslanAG百家乐在线官网 said.
