Police are investigating the identity of a skeleton which was found in a scrapyard alongside a pair of cowboy boots.
A member of the public made the gruesome find at the site in St Osyth in Essex on 25 April.
Essex Police released pictures of the "distinctive" leather cowboy boots in an effort to identify the man, who is believed to be over the age of 55 and with a full set of dentures.
Provisional tests have not managed to reveal the man's identity and the results of further tests are awaited.
Officers hope the grubby footwear could hold the key to finding out who he was.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Truss said: "The man's death continues to be treated as unexplained as no cause of death has currently been established.
"It is hoped that, by identifying him, we may be able to establish the last known movements of the man, leading up to his death."
