Emilie Anne Parker: Family tribute to US student killed in Scottish Highlands crash alongside pet dogs

Emilie Anne Parker, 30, was walking her two huskies near Aviemore on 11 October when they were struck by a car. The 20-year-old male driver of the grey Peugeot 207 was uninjured.

The family of an American student have paid tribute to her after she died in a crash in the Scottish Highlands.

Emilie Anne Parker, 30, was walking her two huskies near Aviemore on Friday 11 October when they were struck by a car.

Emergency services attended but Ms Parker and her pets, Roo and Carver, died at the scene.

The 20-year-old male driver of the grey Peugeot 207 was uninjured.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Parker's family said she had moved with the dogs in July from Colorado to Dundee to undertake a masters in social work at the University of Dundee.

They said they were "devastated" by the loss, adding: "Emilie was a smart, beautiful, courageous 30-year-old woman, who was taken from us far too soon.

"She was a passionate adventurer who loved the outdoors. You could find her with her pups, biking, hiking, rafting, skiing, dog sledding or crafting whenever she wasn't working or studying.

"She was an amazing sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, dog mum, and friend to so many who are going miss her so deeply.

"The world lost an amazing person, and her loss is felt by so many who loved her. Rest in peace Emilie and we will meet again in another life."

The incident occurred around 9.45pm on the B9152, near to the Granish junction.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of Emilie. They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time."
