A 51-year-old man will face trial next year over the murder of a boy outside a school in Essex in a hit-and-run attack.

Harley Watson, 12, died in hospital following a car collision outside his school on 2 December just before 3.20pm.

A number of others were left injured.

Terence Glover, 51, of Newmans Lane in Loughton, is charged with Harley's murder, as well as the attempted murder of a 23-year-old woman and nine children, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He has also been charged with driving dangerously.

Appearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, Glover wore a green and yellow tracksuit and remained seated during the short hearing, which was conducted via a video link from Chelmsford Prison where he has been remanded in custody.

He did not enter a plea, and will give one at a formal hearing on 31 January in the same court.
