The connection between food and regional identity has the power to provoke some very strong feelings.
The way we eat has been transformed by the influence of global cuisines.
But when people feel others are profiting from their culture without appropriate knowledge or respect, it can cause a lot of upset.
That was highlighted on Monday when MP Dawn Butler accused celebrity chef Jamie Oliver of appropriating Jamaican culture with a jerk rice dish.
Its not the first time people have fallen out over the use and ownership of foods. Why have these dishes been divisive?
