George Galloway has been fired as a Talk Radio host, after celebrating Liverpool FC's win in the Champions League with a tweet saying: "No聽#Israel flags on the Cup!"

The station said it was a "fair and balanced news provider" that "does not tolerate antisemitic views".

Mr Galloway's weekly show "Unleashed" had been cancelled with "immediate effect", a spokesperson confirmed.

The former MP sparked fury for his reaction to Liverpool beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 on Saturday night.

He wrote: "Congratulations to the great people of #Liverpool to the memory of the socialist miner #BillShankley to the fallen #96 to those who fought for justice for them and to the Liverpool dockers. No #Israel flags on the Cup!"

Liverpool's head of club and supporter liaison, Tony Barrett, wrote back: "Please don't include Liverpool Football Club in this b*t.

"It's the club of Ronnie Rosenthal and Avi Cohen. It's the club of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. It's the club of Parson Jackson and Bill Shankly (with no e).

Martha Kelner says the hundreds of thousands of Liverpool supporters drowned out Mr Galloway's bile

A Spurs spokesman said: "It's astounding in this day and age to read such blatant antisemitism published on a social platform by someone who is still afforded air time on a radio station on which he has previously broken broadcast impartiality rules."

Mr Galloway later claimed he had been given a "red card" from Talk Radio for "over-celebrating" the win, which was secured by an early Salah penalty and an 87th minute strike from Divock Origi.

He vowed that "the mother of all talkshows" will "not be silenced", adding "see you in court" and "long live Palestine".
