German police have freed a Polish woman who was kidnapped by three men in the Netherlands, they have said.

The woman, who is believed to be 22 years old but has not been named, was pulled into a car in the Netherlands on Saturday.

At least one of the men was armed at the time, police said.

A cross-border police operation was launched and she was tracked down by Cologne police to the county of Viersen in western Germany last night.

Police managed to get her out unharmed, but two of the men inside the car were injured during the operation.

A third suspect was arrested later at a house in nearby Bergheim.

The men are aged 26, 27 and 32.

The motive for the kidnapping is not known.
