Ghislaine Maxwell has once more been denied bail ahead of her trial in the United States.

It is the sixth time the 59-year-old has been denied release from jail.

She is currently awaiting a trial for charges of sex trafficking, which she denies.

Maxwell is accused of helping procure teenage girls for financier Jeffrey Epstein to abuse, with the jury selection process currently underway.

District Judge Alison Nathan promised in her ruling on bail that Maxwell would be taken from her jail cell to her trial "in a way that is humane, proper, and consistent with security protocols".

It came after allegations from Maxwell's legal team that she had been treated like Hannibal Lector from the film Silence of the Lambs - "despite the absence of the cage and plastic face guard".

Lawyer Bobbi Sternheim said in a letter: "Many of the officers are openly hostile toward her and have mentioned having read the press and seen various television shows which amplify their hostility."
