Buckingham Palace has announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are to have their own household and develop their growing roles as senior members of the royal family.
The new household of Meghan and Harry will be based at Buckingham Palace and is likely to be created following the birth of their first baby, expected in April.
Harry and the Duke of Cambridge will formally split their backroom staff and may signal a shift in the direction of their public works.
It comes as speculation grows as to whether we have seen the Duchess making her last appearance before she has her baby.
Kensington Palace has confirmed that Meghan currently doesn't have any more official outings in the diary as she waits for the arrival of her first child.
On Monday she attended two Commonwealth Day events with the Duke of Sussex. They first met young people at Canada House.
As they arrived Prince Harry was seen helping his wife, who's believed to be eight months pregnant, to step up onto the curb, in her four-inch stiletto heels.
The couple then attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey with the Queen and other senior members of the royal family.
Palace sources say the Duchess is continuing to hold lots of private meetings, so it would be wrong to say that her maternity leave has started.
They also say that with her due date still a few weeks away other public engagements could crop up and would be announced in the usual ways.
As they started their tour of Australia last October, it was confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were expecting their first child this spring.
There hasn't been any official confirmation as to when the baby is due, but Meghan told crowds in Birkenhead in January that she was due to give birth in April or May.
There is still considerable speculation about where the couple have chosen to have their baby.
Will they follow in the footsteps of the Duchess of Cambridge and opt for the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington?
Or have they chosen to go with Frimley Park hospital, a closer option to Frogmore Cottage, their new home in Windsor, if they have moved in by then.
So far the palace hasn't commented on the couple's plans.
