Hit and run driver may have buried cash-filled briefcase in garden

Police investigate a possible link between a hit and run that killed two people and a money-filled briefcase.

A driver who ran from the scene of a hit and run that killed two men may have buried a briefcase full of money in a nearby garden.

The driver, aged in his 40s, is being hunted by police after two men in their late teens or early 20s died.

The incident happened just after 11am on the B1091 between Yaxley and Farcet in Cambridgeshire.

An air ambulance was called but both victims died.

They have not yet been formally identified and officers were trying to trace their next of kin.

The driver left the scene and despite a search by the police helicopter and a dog unit he remains on the run.

Just after the hit and run, a nearby house was broken into and a briefcase filled with what was reported to be £100,000 was later found buried in the garden.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

The road between Yaxley and Farcet was closed for much of the day and reopened at around 8pm.
