A huge fire has broken out at a warehouse in Bristol.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Service said 16 fire engines were at the scene in Avonmouth just after 2.30pm. The number was reduced to eight an hour later.

The service advised people who live and work in the area around St Andrews Road to keep windows and doors shut as they tackle the blaze.

"Our main priority has been to ensure that all colleagues are safe, the cause of the fire will be fully investigated in due course," Evri said in a statement.

"There were very few parcels at the site at the time with the vast majority of outbound deliveries having left the building.

"We have quickly made plans for alternative arrangements to minimise disruption to deliveries taking place over the next few days."

Police were also in attendance to provide traffic management.
