Hull: 'Armed man' in critical condition after being shot by police
The police watchdog is notified in the wake of the incident as forensics officers examine the cordoned off stretch of road.

A man is in a critical condition after being shot by police in Hull.
Armed officers were called to Hessle Road in the early hours of Sunday morning following reports of a man with a gun, according to Humberside Police.
The police watchdog has been notified in the wake of the shooting.
A stretch of the road - one of the busiest in Hull - has been cordoned off as white-suited forensics officers examined the scene.
A blue incident tent had been put up in the middle of the road, close to a parked grey BMW four-wheel drive.
Two police helmets were also visible in the middle of the road, highlighted with yellow forensic markers, as well as paramedics' equipment.
One of the forensics team were focusing their attention on a cash machine, located between a newsagents and sex shop.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Anderson said: "There is currently a scene in place on Hessle Road, Hull, following a police incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
"Officers were deployed to the area after a report was received that a man was in the street and believed to be in possession of a firearm.
"The man was shot by police during the incident and is currently in hospital in a critical condition. There were no other injuries sustained by anyone."
Mr Anderson said a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
