FIRE AND HEARTBREAK:
ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR IN PICTURES

More than 5,000 people have now been killed in the two weeks of fighting in Israel and Gaza.
Most of the dead are civilians. Men, women and children who just want to live in peace.
At funerals on both sides of the fence, mourners bury their dead in the latest violent episode in this long-running conflict.
As the fighting between Israel and Hamas continues, world leaders are striving to bring an end to the conflict.

6.30am on October 7. Southern Israel.
The quiet morning air was suddenly filled with blaring air raid sirens, as Hamas launched a volley of rockets from the Gaza Strip.
Estimates differ on exactly how many rockets were sent AG百家乐在线官网ward towards Israel, but it was more than 2,000.
Then the fighters came.
From the skies, militants on motorised paragliders flew across the border. Others crossed on motorbikes.

Sunday, October 8
Fighting continued in Israel as the police and army clashed with Hamas militants that remained at large.
The Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip wrought destruction on the densely populated area.
According to the Israeli Defence Force (IDF), at least 426 Hamas targets were hit by the Sunday morning, including a compound belonging to the head of the group's intelligence department.
Buildings in Gaza were razed to the ground, including Al-Amin Muhammad Mosque.
The death toll on both sides continued to rise.
