Keep an eye on this US aircraft - as Trump amasses warplanes in the Middle East

Pictures and flight tracking data show F-35 jets and tanker aircraft being moved towards the Middle East.

It all gives Donald Trump more options, if he is to intervene.

But one particular plane that has not been seen yet - the B-2 stealth bomber - would reveal the most about America's intentions towards Iran.

'Annihilate' Iranian regime, says Israeli minister at site of hospital strike

Watch our correspondent Cordelia Lynch question far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

She spoke to him at the site of Iranian strikes on a hospital in southern Israel, asking him about possible US involvement, before he told reporters he wanted an end to the regime in Tehran.

Israel retracts statement that it hit Bushehr nuclear plant

An IDF official said "it was a mistake" to have claimed it hit Iran's only working nuclear site, located on the Gulf Coast.

Israel hit the Natanz, Isfahan and Khondab, formerly called Arak, nuclear sites, they said.

Russian experts working at Iranian nuclear site Israel says it has hit

Moscow has urged Israel to halt air strikes on the Bushehr nuclear plant where it said Russian experts were working.

Bushehr is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant.

Situated on the Gulf coast, it uses Russian fuel that Russia then takes back when it is spent to reduce proliferation risk.

The scale of the attack on Bushehr was not immediately clear.

The potential consequences of any attack - contaminating the air and water - have long been a concern for nearby Gulf States.

A source familiar with the matter said they had prepared a contingency plan for any large-scale attack, in cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.

Watch: What are Trump's options?

The US, and its allies including the UK, are sending military resources to the Middle East.

Our military analyst Michael Clarke looks at what Donald Trump's options are during what he calls a "turning point" in the conflict.

Iran threatens to close key world shipping lane

Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to continued Israeli attacks.

In an interview with state media outlet Mehr, a member of Iran's national security board said Iran had "numerous options to respond to the enemies".

Closing the economically important waterway remained an option, an official named as Saeedi said.

He added: "The enemies of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran should know that if there is a threat against our homeland and people, they will certainly face a crushing response."

For context:

The strait lies between Oman and Iran and links the Gulf north of it with the Gulf of Oman to the south and the Arabian Sea beyond.

About a fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through the strait, near the city of Khor Fakkan.

Iranian reactor contained 'no nuclear material' when hit by Israel, watchdog says

The Iranian nuclear reactor hit this morning was "not operational" when it was struck by Israel, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said.

The nuclear watchdog said Khondab, formerly called Arak, was under construction at the time Israel struck it.

"It was not operational and contained no nuclear material, so no radiological effects," it added.

The IAEA said it had no information on whether the neighbouring water plant was damaged as well.

The reactor is located near Natanz, a key part of Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

Israel says it hits three nuclear sites

The Israeli military says it has struck nuclear sites in Bushehr, Isfahan and Natanz and continues to attack other facilities.

Bushehr is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant, which sits on the Gulf coast.

It uses Russian fuel that Russia then takes back when it is spent to reduce proliferation risk.

Iranian supreme leader 'cannot continue to exist', says Israeli minister

Speaking after the latest wave of Iranian missiles, Israel's defence minister has said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "cannot continue to exist".

Israel Katz said: "A dictator like Khamenei, who heads a country like Iran and has made the destruction of Israel his mission, cannot continue to exist."

The IDF has been "instructed", he added, and knows that "in order to achieve all of its goals, this man absolutely should not continue to exist".

That comes after US officials said this week that Donald Trump vetoed Israel's plot to kill Khamenei.

Trump himself later said there are no plans to kill him "at least for now".
