At least 585 killed in Iran, human rights group says

At least 585 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Iran, while 1,326 have been wounded, according to a Washington-based human rights group.

The Human Rights Activists says it had identified 239 of the dead as civilians and 126 as security personnel. 

The group, which also provided detailed casualty figures during the 2022 protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, crosschecks local reports in the Islamic Republic against a network of sources it has developed in the country. 

Iran's last official update, issued Monday, put the death toll at 224 people killed and 1,277 others wounded. 

WhatsApp 'concerned' as Iranian media tells people to delete app

WhatsApp says it's "concerned" after Iranian state television urged people to delete the encrypted messaging service while alleging the app gathered user information to send to Israel. 

The claim was made by state media without providing specific evidence. 

WhatsApp reacted by saying in a statement it was "concerned these false reports will be an excuse for our services to be blocked at a time when people need them the most". 

It added: "We do not track your precise location, we don鈥檛 keep logs of who everyone is messaging and we do not track the personal messages people are sending one another.

"We do not provide bulk information to any government."

Israel has targeted the Imam Hossein University linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guards in eastern Tehran, according to Iranian news websites.

US shuts Jerusalem embassy

The US is shutting its embassy in Jerusalem until Friday.

This is due to the security situation in the region and to comply with Israeli guidance, the US state department said.

Iran capable of striking US bases in Middle East, officials say

Iran is prepared to strike US bases and assets in the Middle East if they chose to, according to two US officials.

There are, however, no indications that anything is imminent, the officials told our US partner network NBC News.

US bases and assets are at the highest state of alert and readiness.

Israeli army tells Iranian citizens to evacuate district in capital

The Israeli army has called on residents of a district in Iran's capital, Tehran, to evacuate immediately.

Israeli forces will attack District 18, located near Mehrabad International Airport, in the coming hours, said IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee.

Research labs 'completely burnt down' by Iranian strike

An Iranian missile strike "completely burnt down" laboratories at a research university in Israel, according to employees.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited the Weizmann Institute of Science, in Rehovot, today after it was hit on Sunday, according to Israeli media.

Among its work, the institution collaborated with Israeli military and defence companies.

"My colleagues conducted years-long research and had equipment worth millions of dollars 鈥� and now it's all gone," Mor Moria Shipony, a graphic designer at the centre, told CNN 

She said the labs had been "completely burnt down".
