Hip hop star Kanye West has broken his 11-month Twitter silence to write a philosophy book "in real time" in a bid to satisfy his "innate need to be expressive".

The 40-year-old, who has racked up 21 Grammy Awards and is regarded as one of his genre's all-time greats, has already posted a stream of tweets including advice for budding creatives.

It comes after he revealed in The Hollywood Reporter - during an interview with his interior designer Axel Vervoordt - that he would be releasing a book of philosophy called Break The Simulation.

Among tweets showing off new designs for his Yeezy footwear range, he told his 8.6m followers not to "follow crowds" and "do what you feel, not what you think".

He later tweeted: "Oh by the way this is my book that I'm writing in real time. No publisher or publicist will tell me what to put where or how many pages to write.

"This is not a financial opportunity this is an innate need to be expressive."

He added: "I will work on this 'book' when I feel it."

It is not clear if the rap mogul's musings - posted after deleting all of his old tweets - will be made into a physical book.

"If you wanna see the true character of person watch the way they treat someone who can't do anything for them," he wrote in his latest post, which has been liked more than 176,000 times.
