Why you can trust Sky News

Joanna Scott-Aspray is managing director of Cheshire Socialites, which organises networking mixers and events in Cheshire.

She introduces us to the everyday life of Cheshire's social scene.

I'm a Cheshire girl through and through. I live where I work and I work where I live - and I love it.

I run Cheshire Socialites - an events and networking company - which means I get to mix with a huge variety of local people, from all walks of life, including some rich and famous.

Parts of Cheshire are very affluent but it's also a beautiful place and that is why people flock here.

Although it does have lots of footballers and is home to the television show Real Housewives of Cheshire, we are no different to anyone else. Just normal people.

I know normal people don't end up with Bentleys, but that is because a lot of people who live around here have an element of entrepreneurship in their minds and how they work.

More on Opinion

There are a lot of powerful businesswomen around here, which is phenomenal.

I'm all for girl power and it's definitely in place in Cheshire. We're all for helping each other. There is no competition.

Yes, lots of people are rich here - but we are not shut off from the real world.

Lots of my clients are very in touch because of what they do for their jobs and let's face it, they haven't got where they've got to with their head in the clouds, so a lot of them are really switched on.

I've seen money can change people but I think that is only a little percentage who do let it affect them. The people I know...they're normal people who are just enjoying the fruits of their labour.

But I've realised rich people still have their eye on the profit line.

They always want a bargain and why should that change because they've got money? I totally agree with that.

I love to put on distinct, high quality events for the people of Cheshire.

This year I am running an Ascot-themed event in Alderley Edge to help raise money for the Kirsty Club charity, of which I am a patron. It's now in its third year.

It's a very glamorous affair and all the guests will get dressed up like they're going to the Ascot races.

I think it's a real winner because many of the attendees don't want to travel all the way down there - and also at my event, they don't get mud on their heels.

I'm going to see a fashion designer soon - I can't say who - but he is very well known and once we've announced this it's going to be even more exciting and high profile.

And to keep in theme, we will have a horse outside for welcome photographs - and lots and lots of bubbles, of course.

I'm not wealthy yet, but I consider myself wealthy in friends and contacts. Plus, I'm doing a job that I absolutely love and I'm living my dream right now so I'm wealthy in that respect - just not financially yet, but I have a lot of plans for the future.

I think even if I became an overnight billionaire my lifestyle would change. But I wouldn't inside. I'd still have the kind heart I've got.

I think I'll know I have made it when I get my Aston Martin.
