Love Island winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies have split four months after they got together on the hit reality TV show.

In a joint statement they said their "hectic work schedules have made it difficult to make things work" but insisted they would stay friends.

Davies tweeted: "Would just like to say I am incredibly overwhelmed by everyone's lovely messages and comments.

"The love and support from you all has been absolutely heartwarming. Thank you so much."

The break-up comes after the pair saw off Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt to win a £50,000 prize on the ITV2 show, set in a Spanish villa, in July.

In November, the couple went on holiday together and said they hoped to get married in the future.

But in their statement, they said: "It is with sadness that we have decided to separate. We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.

"Our lives have changed beyond recognition over the past few months and our hectic work schedules have made it difficult to make things work.

"We still have a lot of love for each other and will remain good friends."

Following their new-found fame, Cetinay and Davies enjoyed a brief stint as showbiz reporters on ITV's This Morning.

Cetinay, who released a song with fellow contestant Chris Hughes in October, is now set to compete in next year's Dancing On Ice.
