A 72-year-old man has denied stabbing his neighbour to death over a long-running alleyway dispute.

Derek Brown is charged with murdering Richard Braithwaite, 73, in Wembley, north London, at around noon on 21 March this year.

He is alleged to have carried out a knife attack over a belief the victim was leaving items in their shared alleyway.

Mr Braithwaite's 71-year-old wife Annetta was allegedly punched and suffered cuts to her head and face during the incident.

She called police, who found her husband bleeding from a stab wound from which he died at 12.30pm.

Brown was arrested later outside Wembley police station and appeared at the Old Bailey by video-link today from Belmarsh prison, in southeast London, wearing a grey tracksuit.
