Man accused of falsely claiming to be a hospital doctor for months is charged by police

The 20-year-old suspect was apprehended by police on Friday and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly posing as a doctor at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The 20-year-old suspect was apprehended by police during the early hours of Friday and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

According to the Press & Journal, it is alleged that the man falsely claimed to be a medical student and doctor over several months.

He was reportedly caught by hospital staff in the emergency department.

NHS Grampian said it was assisting Police Scotland with its investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a man falsely claiming to be a member of staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary around 4.40am on Friday 26 January.

More on Aberdeen

"A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"He was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date."
