A 40-year-old man has been re-arrested on suspicion of murdering missing midwifery student Joy Morgan.

The suspect was first questioned by officers earlier this month over the University of Hertfordshire student's disappearance but he was released under investigation.

Ms Morgan - who turned 21 this month - was last seen on Boxing Day in Ilford, east London, at a Christmas celebration at her church.

She contacted university friends on WhatsApp the following day and was reported missing on 7 February.

Officers are appealing for information about a distinctive black and red Honda that Joy regularly travelled in, which they believe could be linked to her disappearance.

Hertfordshire Police says the owner of the vehicle has been identified and spoken to.

Joy is described as around 5ft 5in, slim, with afro style hair regularly covered with a scarf.

She also wears glasses.

Police described the case as a "complex missing person investigation" and fear the student "may have come to harm".

They said in a press conference earlier this month they were "open minded" about her disappearance but were "growing increasingly concerned for her safety".

They confirmed that Ms Morgan's bank cards and mobile phone had not been used.

Her family have issued an appeal, saying "We love you, we miss you. Wherever you are, text or call so that we know you are alright.

"It doesn't matter what has happened, just come home."

Ms Morgan was said to be a focused and determined student who had secured a hospital placement for this year.

She has links to Ilford, Battersea, Cricklewood, Stevenage and Luton.
