A man who decided to relieve himself outside Worcester railway station was forced to clean up after himself when police handed him a mop and bucket as a punishment.
The man, who has not been identified, was refused travel from Worcester and asked to leave the station at around 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
British Transport Police shared a picture of the man cleaning up on their Twitter feed and described his actions as "unacceptable" - particularly given the station's toilets were open.
In the tweet, the force said: "Today's top tip! If you decide to urinate on 1 of our stations then expect to be given a mop & bucket to clean up after yourself, whilst being supervised.
"You will then be refused travel like this person found out in #worcester today all whilst a very busy service was emptying."
The force defended its decision to make the gentleman clean up, saying: "No legislation used for the mop and bucket part of it. Just a bit of common sense as I don't see why someone should walk through or clean up someone's else's mess.
"The refused travel was under bylaw 4 of the transports act 2000."
British Transport Police responded to a Twitter user saying: "I agree it is unacceptable, hence why the embarrassment of cleaning it hopefully will make him think twice next time.
"Especially when the toilets were accessible. Sadly if toilets are left open out of office hours there is a minority who abuse it and ruin it for the majority."
The man was not arrested and a British Transport Police said he was "happy with this resolution".
