Moonlight star Naomie Harris has told Sky News she is disappointed the mix-up over the best picture Oscar spoiled the film crew's celebrations.

The English actress told Sky News: "I was disappointed because it really meant we didn't have our moment.

"Our producers didn't have the time to give their speeches and that's a real shame."

Harris, nominated for best supporting actress, said: "After a little uncertainty we got there. It was really incredible"

The debacle over the announcement is shaping up to be the biggest whodunit in Hollywood history.

PwC, the accounting firm which counts votes and provides the , has issued an apology for giving presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway the wrong category envelope.

Veteran actor Beatty admitted he was confused when he saw La La Land actress Emma Stone's name on what was supposed to be the best picture card, and so he handed it to Dunaway to read out.

"It's one of the strangest things that's ever happened to me," Beatty said backstage.

"Thank God there were two of us up there," added Dunaway.

When she realised the mistake she asked Beatty: "Who else should I tell?"

"Everybody," he replied.

Best actress winner Emma Stone said: "Is that the craziest Oscar moment of all time? "It's a very strange happening for Oscar history."

She explained she had kept the card naming her as best actress - suggesting the one Beatty and Dunaway had was a duplicate.

The man who was given the Oscar by mistake

Former Oscar winning actress Salma Hayek was backstage as the drama unfolded.

She told told Sky News: "I didn't think it was a joke because I heard the stage manager on his way to the stage and he stopped.

"He was talking to people trying to figure out what to do."

Actress Jane Fonda tweeted it was "jaw-dropping" and said she had not seen anything like it in 60 years of Oscar watching.

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres also tweeted about the confusion.

"Nothing like live TV," she wrote. "Congrats to Moonlight! And to La La Land for such a gracious reaction."
