Motorcyclist remains on the run after West Lothian pensioner killed in fatal crash

A motorcyclist remains on the run after a pensioner died in hospital following a fatal crash in West Lothian.

William Brown, 81, was crossing Bathgate Road in Blackburn while using a walking frame when he was struck by a motorbike at around 7.15pm on Friday 12 July.

The rider abandoned the bike and fled the scene.

Mr Brown, also known as Bill and from the town, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died on Tuesday.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: "We as a family are totally devastated at the loss of Bill, former janitor at St Kentigern's Academy.

"Bill was a loving family man who was a well-known and respected member of the local community."

Officers are said to be following a "positive line of enquiry" as they continue to trace the whereabouts of the motorcyclist.
