A man riding an electric scooter down a Paris highway has died, after being involved in a collision with a motorbike.
Rescue services said the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The man, thought to be around 30-years-old, was not wearing a crash helmet as he rode his scooter around the A38 outer ring road - one of the busiest roads in the country and around two-and-a-half miles away from Versailles.
He was reportedly travelling in the fast lane of the busy road.
Emergency services are unsure as to why he was travelling on the motorway - where electric scooters are banned.
The rider of the other vehicle involved in the collision suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital.
His bike was found 400m (1,200ft) away from the point where they collided.
Incidents involving the scooters are becoming increasingly common in France - just a day earlier a 27-year-old woman died in Lyon after falling from the electric scooter she was riding in the cycle lane.
Last week a 41-year-old man was seriously injured in an accident near Lille, in the north of the country.
A 25-year-old man died in June when he collided with a lorry in central Paris, which is thought to be the first fatal electric scooter accident in the city.
Last month, British YouTuber, Emily Hartridge, died in southwest London after colliding with a lorry whilst riding her electric scooter.
The scooters, which can exceed speeds of 30mph, are banned from public roads and pavements in the UK.
Paris introduced a 20mph speed limit, after people were able to hire the vehicles on the street, and banned users from riding them on the pavement, otherwise they could face a fine of around £125.
