A Plaid Cymru MP has had the whip removed after he was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Jonathan Edwards, 44, of Ammanford, was arrested on Wednesday by police in South Wales.
He has represented Carmarthen East and Dinefwr since 2010, but will have to sit as independent until police have carried out their inquiries.
Plaid Cymru confirmed it had withdrawn the whip from Mr Edwards and he is "fully complying" with detectives after being bailed.
A party spokesman said in a statement: "On 20 May, Jonathan Edwards MP was arrested following a report of an incident.
"The party whip has been withdrawn pending the conclusion of a police investigation. Mr Edwards has accepted this course of action and is complying fully with the police inquires.
"It would be inappropriate for the party to comment further at this time."
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman added: "A 44-year-old man from Ammanford was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of assault. He has been released on bail. We can cannot confirm name or any further details at this stage."
