Amy Poehler says she was sold on Inside Out as soon as she heard the premise, thinking it was going to be "the best movie ever".
The comic actress plays Joy, one of five emotions inside the brain of an 11-year-old girl called Riley, in Pixar's latest film.
Joy is joined by Sadness, Disgust, Anger and Fear as the youngster tries to deal with a family relocation from Minnesota to San Francisco.
Poehler said she had no hesitation signing up to the film - especially when she discovered it was being developed by Pixar.
"I would have said yes to anything they asked me to do, which is not good bargaining - you don't have much leverage," she said.
She went on to joke: "I knew it was going to be good. When I heard the story I just thought this is going to be the best movie ever and I was right.
"This is the best movie Pixar has ever made."
Poehler shot to fame on Saturday Night Live and recently received an Emmy Award nomination for her role as Leslie Knope in cult comedy Parks And Recreation.
It is a career that has seen the 43-year-old pen much of her own material - but she told Sky News she had no problem just turning up for work each day and reading from a script.
"It's the best. It is so great working with people who are smarter and more creative than you.
"Usually the most talented people are very collaborative.
"If you're really talented, you're not very fear-based - you're not worried this is your last good idea.
"Pixar proved to be this place that is alive and you can contribute.
"But I was a small part of a big machine, and I loved every minute of being that."
Since it was released in the US a month ago, Inside Out has grossed just under half a billion dollars.
That puts it on track to be the most successful movie Pixar has ever made, meaning sequel talk is inevitable.
It's something Poehler says she'd be very keen on: "I say sequel, prequel, 10 episode series on TV, books, movies, a play, on ice, all of it."
