What's happening
- Today was the final day of closing statements at the Post Office Horizon IT inquiry
- Since February 2022, the inquiry has looked into the wrongful convictions of 900 sub-postmasters for theft, fraud and false accounting
- Many more face financial ruin and reputational damage as the Post Office pursued thousands of innocent sub-postmasters for apparent financial shortfalls caused by Horizon faults
- We heard closing statements from former Post Office staff, including ex-chief executive Paula Vennells, and Fujitsu workers
- The inquiry has heard from more than 5,000 witnesses, with millions of pages of testimony
- Yesterday we heard from representatives of sub-postmasters who were wrongly convicted in the scandal. A lawyer said the "evil the Post Office did was profound", describing a "deliberate conspiracy" and "cover up"
- The inquiry's findings will be shared next year
- The livestream has finished for the day
