Residents evacuated and bomb squad called to Musselburgh over 'items of concern' in abandoned vehicle

Residents were evacuated and a bomb squad called after "items of concern" were found within an abandoned vehicle in Musselburgh.
Emergency services were called to the incident in the Newbigging area of Musselburgh on Thursday night.
Nearby properties were cleared out, a cordon was set up, and local parking restrictions were put in place.
Police Scotland warned the public "to avoid the area for their own safety".
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and the objects were "made safe".
In an update during the early hours of Friday morning, the force said there was "no risk to the public".

In a further Facebook post at 7.21am on Friday, a force spokesperson said: "The cordons have been lifted in the Newbigging area of Musselburgh after items of concern were discovered in an abandoned vehicle yesterday.
"Emergency services and Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended, and the objects were made safe.
"There was no risk to the public."
