Donald Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer has resigned from his White House role - bringing to an end six months of blockbuster media briefings.
During his time as the US President's senior spokesperson, Mr Spicer's daily session with reporters in the White House briefing room became must-see TV for millions of Americans.
Carried by all major US news channels, live coverage of Mr Spicer's press conferences - in which he was grilled by journalists on Mr Trump's actions - attracted up to 4.5m viewers.
His performances were so memorable, they even famously became imitated by Hollywood star Melissa McCarthy.
'ALTERNATIVE FACTS'
Mr Spicer made an immediate impression in his very first briefing for White House reporters, when he.
He declared the new President had drawn "the largest audience ever to witness an inauguration" and branded differing claims "shameful and wrong".
In an early taste of the White House's forthcoming battles with the press, Mr Spicer warned he was going to hold journalists "accountable".
Attempting to defend Mr Spicer's inaccurate description of the inauguration crowd, White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said the press secretary was presenting "alternative facts".

After being alerted to his wardrobe malfunction, Mr Spicer's initial attempt to correct the flag's position failed.
HITLER CONTROVERSY
Mr Spicer sparked international condemnation when he claimed Nazi leader Adolf Hitler "didn't even sink to using chemical weapons", following a nerve gas attack by Syria's dictator Bashar al-Assad.
He , adding: "I would ask for folks' forgiveness… I should have not tried to make a comparison.
"There's no comparing atrocities."
'JOE' TRUDEAU AND MALCOM 'TRUMBLE'
During his time in the White House, Mr Spicer displayed an unfortunate habit of mispronouncing the names of world leaders.
Canada's prime minister Justin Trudeau earned the moniker "Joe" from the press secretary, while Australian leader Malcolm Turnbull became Malcolm "Trumble".
HIDING IN A BUSH
The most bizarre episode involving Mr Spicer centred on suggestions he hid in bushes within the White House grounds to avoid reporters, following Mr Trump's dramatic decision to fire FBI chief James Comey.
The Washington Post, who first reported the claims, later amended their story - following an intervention by the White House - to correct the description of Mr Spicer's location as "among" bushes, rather than "in" the bushes.
GREEN TIE GAFFE
Mr Spicer committed the cardinal on-screen sin of wearing a green tie during one televised White House briefing.
The choice of outfit, seemingly to mark St Patrick's Day, inspired multiple new edits of the press conference.
'SPICEY'
The White House press secretary earned the nickname "Spicey" following actress Melissa McCarthy's surprise impersonation of Mr Spicer on TV show Saturday Night Live.
The Oscar-winner has returned twice more to mimic the President's aide.
