Storm Lilian is the first named storm since April and the fifth of 2024.

It comes after northern England and large parts of Scotland endured more heavy rain and windy conditions on Wednesday.

The storm could dampen some people's plans for the bank holiday, with the RAC estimating 3.2 million leisure trips by car on Friday and 19.2 million over the three days.
