A stowaway managed to fly from the US to France without a ticket before being discovered on the flight.

The woman was caught onboard Delta Airlines flight 264 from New York's John F Kennedy International Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Tuesday.

A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesperson said she was able to bypass two "identity verification and boarding status stations" in New York "and boarded the aircraft".

They added she had completed a full security screening before getting on the plane.

It is unclear how the woman was able to do so. Authorities said to be at a departure gate, a person must have cleared the security checkpoint.

But a source told Sky's US partner network that upon landing in Paris, the stowaway was removed from the aircraft by police officers.
