The Secret Service says a person is in custody after they jumped over a barrier along the north fence of the White House and briefly put the building into lockdown.
Security had been especially tight because President Trump was holding talks there with Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
There were protests in front of the White House for Mr Erdogan's visit.
He had left the building when the security alert began.
