Three-year-old boy airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after crash in Aberdeenshire

A six-year-old girl and 27-year-old woman were also taken to hospital and treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries following the crash on the A98 near New Pitsligo, on Sunday afternoon.

A three-year-old boy was flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious one-car crash in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident, involving a black Ford Fiesta, on the A98 near New Pitsligo at around 12.45pm on Sunday.

The boy was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A six-year-old girl and 27-year-old woman were also taken to hospital and treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for investigation works and eventually reopened at around 11.20pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Road Policing Sergeant Lesley Morrison said: "Enquiries into this incident remain ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or believes they saw the Ford Fiesta beforehand, to please come forward.

"We are also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage from the A98 around the time of the crash.

"If you believe you may be able to assist our investigation, please call police on 101."
