Tiffany Haddish vows to 'get some help' after driving under influence arrest

Haddish was arrested on Friday after being found "slumped over the wheel of a car" while the engine was still running, police in LA said.

Actress Tiffany Haddish said she will "get some help" after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The 43-year-old, who shot to fame for her role in 2017 comedy film Girls Trip, was detained on Friday after being found "slumped over the wheel of a car" while the engine was still running, police in LA said.

Haddish was released hours after her arrest.

The comedian was arrested on suspicion of the same charge last year.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Haddish vowed it "would never happen again".

She said: "I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries."

The actress said that her Tesla vehicle had parked itself as she was sleeping but was blocking part of the road, Haddish told the showbiz magazine.

She also thanked police for handling the situation.

The incident came after the Grammy and Emmy Award-winning star performed at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles on Thursday night for a Thanksgiving dinner for the community.

She was reportedly scheduled to perform on Friday and Saturday night, ABC News said.

Best known for the smash-hit Girls Trip, where she appeared alongside Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifa, Haddish has also won an Emmy for her appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2018 and a Grammy in 2021 for her special, Black Mitzvah.

She has more recently starred in Apple TV+ series The Afterparty, 2018 comedy film Night School alongside Kevin Hart, and 2019 crime film The Kitchen alongside Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss.

Her debut novel The Last Black Unicorn landed a spot on the New York Times bestsellers list in 2017.
