Tom Hardy has called Venom: The Last Dance "monumentally brilliant" ahead of its release.

Speaking to Sky News at the film's UK premiere at BFI IMAX in London, the English actor says it feels strange parting ways with a character he thoroughly enjoys playing.

"It's like watching my son leave home, which I'm looking forward to, in some aspects," he joked.

"I don't feel like it is over yet because we are still here. I don't think it will really hit me until it's quiet and I have a moment of reverie on my own."

The actor has played the Marvel character in three films since 2018 and helped pen the script for the last two.

"There are lots of feelings, I wouldn't say I'm emotional but I'm very proud of my business partner because I've seen her grow from us shopping [ideas] and us trying to work together to now delivering something which I think is monumentally brilliant."

Filmmaker Kelly Marcel makes her directorial debut after writing the screenplays for each of the movies in the trilogy.
