Tumbleweed engulfs streets in Utah and Nevada

On the back of strong winds and storms in parts of the US, towns in Utah and Nevada have been overrun by an invasion of tumbleweed.

Residents in South Jordan, Utah woke up to thousands of tumbleweeds in front of their homes over the weekend.

Towns in Utah have been overtaken by an invasion of tumbleweed, with homes surrounded by piles as high as three metres in places.

Homeowners in the US have been waking up to the sight of tumbleweed sweeping through their towns in recent days.

Whilst locals in Utah have had problems with the issue in the past, they said that it had never been this bad.

Images showed the driveways of homes in Eagle Mountain clogged up with the plant - and vehicles buried.

In places, the tumbleweed reached the rooftops.

Utah isn't the only state affected, with some towns in neighbouring Nevada also hit by the tumbleweed invasion.
