Two bodies have been found near the River Thames in Essex, police said.
Officers were called to Wharf Road in Grays shortly before 7.30am after a woman's body was discovered in the water. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
While there, police found a second body nearby.
They do not believe the deaths are linked and are treating them as separate incidents.
Both discoveries are being "treated as non-suspicious", Essex Police said.
Several police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance were seen in the car park of The Wharf pub.
Manager Dawn Gregory told Essex Live it was "so sad" and a "horrible loss for anybody".
A file will be prepared for the coroner, the force said.
