Two men have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after the deaths of three teenagers in a crush outside a hotel.

Lauren Bullock and Morgan Barnard, both 17, and Connor Currie, 16, were killed as hundreds of people tried to get into a hotel in Cookstown, County Tyrone on St Patrick's Day.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have taken in the two men, aged 52 and 40, for questioning.

Police also urged anyone who witnessed the fatal incident to come forward, insisting they would not be punished for being underage.

A spokesperson said more people could have been killed.

Investigators said there were around 400 people near the incident at the Greenvale Hotel, but only 160 witnesses had been identified.

Detective Chief Superintendent Raymond Murray added: "I want to reassure you, the focus of our investigation is not the age of people who were at the event - it is about trying to find answers for the families of the three teenagers who tragically died.

"We need to know what you saw so the heartbroken families of Connor, Lauren and Morgan know what happened to their children."

Tributes were placed outside the hotel on Tuesday and eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos on the night of the deaths.

Eboney Johnston, who witnessed the fatal incident, said she saw people who were kneeling to help others become crushed themselves.

The 16-year-old said the teenagers were a "credit to themselves" for trying to help everybody else.

"I think we all felt guilty that it wasn't us - that we couldn't help what happened," she said.

She added that many partygoers did not realise the seriousness of the situation until they were told to leave the venue by police.

The incident happened between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday.

Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the victims, but one died at the scene while two died later in hospital.

A 16-year-old girl was in a stable condition in hospital and two more teenagers were treated for injuries.
